Boost Your Self Image

Welcome again!

I came across a short but valuable video just now that I want to share with you. Thanks to Denis Waitlie for his warm and informative way to convey a message... and an important one at that.

Kids and Family Coach, Denis Waitley discusses how a positive projection of your image is key to success. I'm sure you'll agree with me about Denis' warm style and you'll likely notice how some of his pointers are very similar to what I've been sharing with you along the way, too.

Click on the following link and watch this short (1:11 minutes) talk on the value of projecting a positive self image...

Simple strategies to make a dynamic shift in sense of self!

Enjoy!

Help Girls To Love Themselves More

Welcome and thanks for visiting.
(I'm so frustrated... for some reason, Blogger won't let me insert photos right now! And, you know how much I LOVE photos... sigh.)

The topic I want to address today doesn't fall within my Work and Life Balance theme, but it is a pressing issue in our North American culture and deserves as much attention as possible.

The issue? The faltering self image and inclination towards anorexia and bulemia in our young girls because of the social pressure to be unnaturally thin!

This has been a news item for many years now... I was even aware of the pressure when I was an adolescent decades ago... but it has escalated to an all-time crisis because of the heightened media frenzy following the young starlets in the fashion and movie industry today. Pathetically, the Kate Mosses, Lindsay Lohans and Paris Hiltons of today seem to set the "standards" for how many young girls aspire to look.

Richard and I witness many young woman in our counselling work struggling with poor self images and in eating crisis, punishing themselves to create thinner versions of themselves... which is sad considering each of them are already lovely, but just don't see it.

In this 6-minute video, host Katie Couric talks with Dr. Diane Mickley of the Wilkins Center and 'Today' contributor Dr. Gail Saltz about how mothers can help their daughters love themselves and their bodies, creating self esteem in an environment of bad body images.

Surely there are ways to help the blossoming young girls around us to feel good about themselves, no matter whether they're a size 4 or a size 16. Perhaps the few tips offered here will give you ideas on how to help those girls in your life.

Here's to accenting the natural beauty in every woman... no matter their size, shape or age! (On that note, I have to express my appreciation to the skincare company, Dove, for it is making a concerted effort to raise awareness in this very regard... good work to them!)
